Reply:Well, Jaeger is actually a common last name in Scandinavia, but quite a few people use it here now (pronounced Jay gar). Jagger doesn't sound particularly nice. Roman doesn't suit me, but I like Vance.





I like Vanna for a girl and Raye Lynn (separate name) also. You could use your spelling, I just don't like it as much.

My friend and I are arguing about whether old names like Arthur, Charlotte , and Eleanor are better/prettier then names new names like Indigo, Hazel, and Mackenzie. Which ones are better?

Actually, Hazel is an old name...





it seems these days, what is old is new again.





But there are a lot of modern names, like Indigo an Mackenzie being invented.





I think, that since old things come back into style again and again, they are more interesting than names that are "one hit wonders" or very trendy.





But better or prettier, I don't know.
Reply:THE OLD ONES AR BETTER!! well compared to the new ones you gave. i like the names that arent super old but not crazy weird. my favorites are (for girls) meredith, eliza, caroline, katherine,mary, elizabeth (plus, that has a lot of nicknames built in) i HATE color names (indigo makes me think of grapes and crayons and hazel of kelly clarksons song) and weirdo names like apple and stuff. for boys the really old names are good, like luke, charlie, john, patrick, james, matthew. mackenzie just isnt pretty. yes, the old ones are better!!

Talking about them a lot? Do you think maybe they are fulfilling a need to have children by treating their pets like children? Or they're just thrilled to have someone love them unconditionally?

Reply:Both. Pets love and want to be loved unconditionally. They don't talk back, argue, spend money, etc. like humans can.
Reply:I think that people do get pets as a substitute for people. Pets are very therapeutic.





I know it makes a big diffeence for me to have my little dog at home while my children and husband are at work.





Then my husband goes to school and I still have her to keep me company and fight off stress from 2-6 teenage boys in my house after school.

Reply:i always wondered the same thing. i have a dog and two cats, i love them, and take care of them...however, they are not my children and i do not obsess about them. my sister has dogs that she treats like people. she caters to their every need, spends thousands on vet bills, cooks (yes cooks!) them special meals and these dogs are a nuisance when i go to visit her. i can't stand a dog jumping and slobbering on me. she does all this for her dogs, yet she has a son she hasn't spoke to in years and grandchildren she barely acknowledges! i always thought people and children especially were more important than children!

Reply:I used to wonder the same thing. I could not see getting attached to an animal much less taking to a vet and spending money on it! Then someone gave my husband and I a puppy. We didn't really want her, but she needed a home, and she really starting to grow on us. When she was about 2, I found out I could not have children. So you're probably right in my case. 1st she gave us unconditional love and then she "helped" fill a void. I didn't give her a baby name or obsess about her- but she really meant a lot to us.

Reply:I think some peo. do this bec. we are living in such transient and often lonely times. It is in our nature to love and be loved. A pet can help fulfill that need or fill in the gap. On the other hand, there really are peo. who connect with animals on a level that goes beyond need fulfillment. For these peo. their pets are truly their friends or family (familiars.)

I'm guessing you watch Jon %26amp; Kate Plus 8 since Cara, Hannah, Leah, Alexis, and Aiden are all names from the show! Please don't name your multiples after tv multiples!! I do like the name Cara a lot though ( I think I prefer the spelling Kara though but both are pretty). I LOVE the name Holly!! Stephanie is cute and although it is a bit 80s it is no longer overly-popular which is nice! Liam is also cute but I prefer it as a nickname to William (which I Love).





I would go with Cara and Hannah for twins, although I would prefer Cara and Alexis. And I like Holly the best for a girl, with Stephanie second. I don't like Clarissa at all - it sounds like an evil stepmother/witch name or something! And go with Liam/William for a boy! I would personally do Holly and Cara for twins!
