How did you pick your babies name?

I want a name other than the same names that are in every single list on every baby name website. How did you find your baby's name and are there any good baby naming sites that offer something a bit different. Also we're from Ireland so would be fairly keen on an Irishy name but will accept any suggestions! Thanks.

Reply:My son is name after my fiance (his father), my son and fiance name is Colin.

If you want something different and not the same ole names in every baby name web sites or books, you should try making up names that you think are cute.

I'm sort of like you I want my children names to be different, that's why when I have more children I want to name them something different but cute.

Well to me Irish names are being use alot, not only in Ireland. Maybe you should look at names that come from different countries like:

Malaysia:

Girls:

Jamilah

Amira

Suraya

Hawaii:

Girls:

Keona

Leilani

Boys:

Kai

Keanu

Arabic:

Girls:

Amina

Ayisha

Samirah

Boys:

Jamal

Kamil

Khalil

.......ETC.

But if you wanted to name your child a Irish name, I suggest you pick a name and put a lil twist to it.

Good Luck!
Reply:I think that using family names, or traditional names as middle names are great, because they keep a sense of family pride and traditional, whilst leaving room for something really nice and individual as the first name.

For example, the traditional Irish name could be the middle name, maybe even the name of a relative, or your own name could be used.

And the first name could be something more out there and individual.

Just an idea, hope this helped.
Reply:If you have a vague idea of the area you'd like to head, for you that would be a narrower piece of "Irish names", such as Irish names with particular sound or set of meanings, often you may not know who your baby really is until they are born.

Search Irish celebrities or something like that, see if anything catches your eye.
Reply:Our Daughters:

Grace Jamie:

We both love the name Grace, which comes from the Latin; Gracia meaning God's favor. Jamie because it's my first name and we wanted to use it.

Rome Taylor:

My husband proposed to me in Rome, Italy so it's special to us. My niece Sophia picked Taylor for a middle name, after the singer Taylor Swift.

Jaida Miley:

I love the name Jade, but I wanted to make it slightly unique. Jada came out of that, but we did think it may be pronouced wrong so added the extra i. As for Miley, another niece of mine chose Miley, after the singer/actress Miley Cyrus.

I love the Irish Names (girls):

Niamh

Aoife

Caoimhe

Orlaith

But sadly my husband isn't too keen on them!
Reply:I never had any kids, but this is my advice (this is what I would do):

First of all, check the names you like best. Think of some time when you heard (or read) a name and thought,'Wow what a nice name!'

Then go on the internet and check their meaning.

Also remember to choose a name that goes well with the surname.
Reply:GET A BABY BOOK.

ME AND MY HUSBAND EACH MADE A LIST, AND AFTER LISTS WERE DONE WE MARKED OFF ONE OFF EACH OTHER'S LIST UNTIL THERE WERE TWO. AND DECIDED FROM THAT.

NOTE** IF HE MARKED ONE OFF THAT I REALLY LIKED, I'D MARK A GOOD ONE OFF HIS... HEHE*

GOOD LUCK AND CONGRATS!
Reply:my partner and i used the name of our fave song... Cailyn its unusal and yeah - when ur bubz is here, his/her name will come straight to you and sometimes it may not even be one that you have thought about -
Reply:What me and my boyfriend did is we found some names that kinda had meaning to us. Maybe you look up a name that has a hidden naming for it like love, or something like that behind the name used.
Reply:I'm old school and always liked Dustin Hoffman, the actor, so I named my son Dustin.
Reply:u sound a lil fussy. just a tad.
