Is it me, or does anyone else think celebrities are trying to outdo each other with the horrendous baby names?

The latest- ta da...Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale. Proud idiotic parents- Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani. I mean really, what the hell is a Zuma? What were they thinking? I mean I know it's not my kid but come on! Like there are no other names out there that are unique and unusual but not ridiculous?

Is it me, or does anyone else think celebrities are trying to outdo each other with the horrendous baby names?
I think it's because of celebrities' narcissism that they name their kids such crazy things, they think of their children as accessories, not as human beings. It's pathetic.
Reply:zuma is a mayan name, anyone who listens seriously to rage against the machine, or believes in the 2012 theory would know this, also nesta is Bob Marley's middle name, which therefore makes him match Kingston:) I think it's unique, and I like it. This whole weird celebrity baby name thing is not new at all. Bruce willis and Demi moore's kids are name rumer, scout, and tellulah, and they are all teenagers. Also don't even get me started on the zappa's!! I think she is trying to honor her children by naming them after Bob Marley, the most peaceful, honorable, loyal, genuine person to walk this earth in our lifetime. So hate if you want, it doesn't matter.
Reply:I was really looking forward to hearing what Gwen %26amp; Gavin would call their latest arrival, but like you I was shocked / horrified at the new name. When they named their first, Kingston James, I was rather happy they hadn't gone along with the bizarre celebrity naming craze. Both the first and middle names are quite simple and not overly 'new'. I expected this to be the same for their second, something cute and maybe slightly unusual. But Zuma Nesta? Wow, I'm interested as to where the name comes from. No doubt we'll be seeing people considering the name Zuma now, have you noticed that the names Knox %26amp; Vivienne are already becoming popular? People need to stop following celebrity trends. I've even seen people on here asking if we liked names like Preston Pax, seriously why copy celebrity names?! Pax means peace in Latin, but who would have ever considered it before Brangelina named their son?


I can just see it, in years to come we'll have classrooms full off little Pax's, Maddox's, Zuma's, Apple's, Moses', Shiloh's and Suri's.

Reply:Im sure most people know that No Doubt had a strong reggae influence (at least people that listened to their music). Kingston, (the name of her first child) is also where Bob Marley lived (Kingston, Jamaica). Nesta, was Bob's first name before he had it changed to his middle name (Robert Nesta Marley) Zuma is an African name.. but im not sure if that's why they chose it.





Is it normal? No. They didn't choose Joe or Steve or something that would have been forgotten by tomorrow morning. They chose something that means something to THEM as a couple, as a family. A name represents roots, life, purpose, etc.





To those that trashed Brad and Angie's decision to name their son Knox.. "What were they thinking?" Knox was Brad's grandfather's name. So I suspect they were thinking of honoring their family. As they did by naming their daughter's middle name after her late mother.





Seriously people. Why do these things bother you SO much! No they're not common but to me these names show more thought and honor than choosing some name that 10 other people will have in every class they take for the rest of their lives. Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Garner, Jennifer Love-Hewitt, Jennifer Lopez.... Boooooorring!!!
Reply:Zuma is an awesome name you all are just hatin' because yall are plain people unlike gwen and Gavin at first people said the same thing about kingston now he's 2 and its totally rad for him to have that name so just watch and see at first its like WHAT! but 2 years from now when shes naming her next kid zuma will be like so popular and cool y'all are gonna feel dumb the name is cool and it mean something even cooler and nesta is Bob m. middle name and if you know anything about them you know that gwen loves BOB MARLEY! so stop hatin its their kid

so Angelina and Brad have a Knox so Gwen and Gavin have to go one better and have a Zuma,altleast he wont feel out of place with the Suri,Apple,Moses,Shiloh(although I like this),Knox,Pax,Coco,Free,Tu Morrow,Poppy Honey and Daisey Boo's





to the last post Zuma is actually a boy not a girl which makes this name even more crazier as Zuma sounds girly even though it would be a stupid name for a girl to,what are they going to call him for a nick name? Zoo?
Reply:Yeah its a weird one. It never phases me anymore though. You've got your Suri, Apple, Moses, Zuma, Moonunit something or another, Dixie Dot (true name!). Lol. I just give up. Like these kids wont have a weird enough life- they have to have weird names too?
