Why do animals other than humans and apes have other names for their babies?

Yes, here is a complete list.

Why do animals other than humans and apes have other names for their babies?
we do they are called kids, children, etc
Reply:its so you can say to your kid at the zoo" hey theres a cub, or chick " or something...its easier than adding" baby" before their name
Reply:Duh!! Because if a badger or a frog, say, named its baby Gretchen or Oswald, things would get totally confused, so they name them things like Barnaby (for a badger) and Ralph (for a frog). Actually apes don't give their babies human names either. Whoever told you that was just "funning" you.
Reply:It is mans so-called intellect that we will rule over the world.
Reply:When you say other names what do you mean i,m not understanding the question
Reply:We also have different names for our young, they are babies, infant, tot and child i think.
Reply:We borrowed so many words from other languages. In one language there aren't usually so many different words for young of different animals. Same reason we say deer and venison, pigs and swine, etc...
Reply:it is an idiosyncrasy (sorry spelling) of language, or why would baby squirrels have the same name as baby cats, and why are there several names for young from the same species.
Reply:They don't, they can't think or speak in that way.
