Does anyone else get a laugh out of the baby names category?

Some of the things people are willing to call their kids is nothing short of UNBELIEVEABLE.

Does anyone else get a laugh out of the baby names category?
YES! it is ridiculous!

they just add extra letters to make "it different" but it really just looks like ****.

like Chistabella? wtf is that?!

shakiki- omg.
Reply:You are absolutely right, some names are just...plain mean. I have never been a fan of unisex names or names people force to unisex. It seems as though all the boy names are being taken away and given to girls which leaves us with a smaller grouping of names to choose. I want a masculine name for my boys and a feminine one for my girls, the way it should be. I don't mind some of the uncommon names as you can generally tell the sex of the child and it's not a name you cringe at. There are of course atrocious ones with apostrophe's, wretched spellings that look like someone use phonetics to spell out, and outright every day words that they want to saddle a kid with.
Reply:Sometimes when I read some names my eyeballs bulge out of their sockets. With these questions, I don't quite know how to reply since I'm not sure if the person is a troll or actually serious about the name.

The main thing that irks me about some names is:

a) The parents unwilling to listen to suggestions. Why ask people about a name on Yahoo Answers if you don't want to hear opinions. Regardless of what people say a positive attitude to a name does matter, since your child will be wearing the name, not yourself.

b) Stripper names, names with random and unnecessary apostrophes, and grossly misspelled names.
Reply:Some names make me laugh but a lot of the names are really nice. At least some people give a lot of thought into the names they are giving their children and don't just follow the pack. Even some names that people say are normal are absolutely horrid ie. Greta (YUCK) and Cedric (CRAP).

BTW I think Tuscany is an absolutely beautiful name. I know a little girl with that name and it really suits her.
Reply:haha, yes!

i feel sorry for their poor little kids who have to live with their name! some will get teased so bad its just not funny!

girls names are girls names and boys names are boys names. dont try and mix them around because it just doesnt work!!

also the first names that are made up of two names. i know of this girl called

"Christy-Anne" so everyone thinks its christian like the guys name, but its not. i feel so bad for her!
Reply:heyy loll,

well actually, i love the baby names category. i think its interesting to see what people come out with. it doenst matter that they have weird names per se, but i like having input and saying my perspective. it's fasinating....

but you're right....some of the names are just TOOO try-hard and "look at me i name my children weird things".

all the best xxxxxx
Reply:Haha yeah I think half the time they have to be joking...it really scares me that they might not be though. Omg the poster a few posts before was horrible...they had names like Uni Kit....Tuscany "cause I went there once" and .... Nini Sherry or some crap "because I had a doll named that once." So bad!
Reply:Why are you laughing at people for being creative in naming their children?

Ok, I can agree that sometimes it goes too far.

When I have children, I sticking to Biblical names like: Jeremiah, David, Ruth, Mary, and Micah.
Reply:Absolutely.

In fact, I know someone *poor thing* whose first name is Baby Ruth.

I just don't understand how some people don't get that these poor kids will get teased horribly all through school.

I like Ashton, but not for a girl. Maybe Ashlyn though.
Reply:I think lyric is cute.. and Ashton for a girl. But yes some of them go way to far. They have to at least be pronounceable!!!! If the teacher, doctor, ect. can't read the name- it is a thorn in that childs side even into adulthood. I know. I have a odd name.
Reply:It turns my stomach at times what people want to name their baby I just think how awful for the kid to have to live whith some of these thankfully at times they get a normal middle that they can chose to use
Reply:Yeah I know what you mean.

And now people are putting boys names on girls. Like Noah and Ashton. They are boys names for god sake.
Reply:I had a teacher in high school, Mr. Rayle (pronounced rail).

Him and his wife named their baby girl Ginger Rayle. I feel so sorry for that little girl.
Reply:ha ha yea i know some are just stupid.. and he get upset at you for saying there terrible. what ever happened to normal names... like seriously who would name there child lyric... that one made me laugh
Reply:Sometimes I do.
Reply:LOL, I was just thinking the exact same thing.... I'm happy to be naming my baby something boring... haha.
